The Duma opposed restrictions on abortion

Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Nina Ostanina in a conversation with “Lentoy.ru” stated that abortion is a woman’s private matter, and government interference in private life is unacceptable.
Ostanina emphasized that her opinion on this issue has not changed and she is convinced that a woman has the right to apply for an abortion wherever she sees fit, including private clinics. The parliamentarian indicated that she is personally against private medicine, but if it is provided for by law, then the patient has the right to go there. The deputy wondered why in this case the woman could not be the patient.
In addition, Ostanina clarified that she has a negative attitude towards any government interference in the private life of citizens, recalling that abortion is a personal matter for a woman, her health and family. The deputy also added that she is against reducing the time period within which a woman has the right to terminate a pregnancy.
