The Duma Committee approved the freeze of indexation of salaries for civil servants

The State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation on State Building and Legislation recommended that parliamentarians adopt in the second reading a bill to suspend until January 1, 2025 the provisions on the indexation of salaries of judges, civil servants, as well as assistants to deputies and senators. The document was submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration by the lower house in September. Deputies approved it in the first reading on October 25. According to the amendments to the second reading, some of the categories proposed for “freezing” are excluded.
The initiatives included the suspension for one year of the provisions on the indexation of salaries of civil servants, judges, parliamentary assistants, police officers, military personnel, as well as employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Federal Bailiff Service, the Federal Customs Service and the State Fire Service. It was proposed to include the corresponding changes in a number of federal laws.
Meanwhile, at the second reading, the relevant committee supported the amendments, according to which the indexation of salaries will not be suspended in relation to military personnel, as well as employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service, FSSP, Federal Customs Service, internal affairs bodies and the State Fire Service.
