The Mir 19 drug for the treatment of COVID-19, developed by the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, will be available in pharmacies by the end of May. According to RIA Novosti, the new anti-coronavirus drug can be obtained by prescription, which means that patients will be able to receive it for outpatient treatment.
It is noted that the new substrain of the Arcturus coronavirus will not affect the effectiveness of Mir 19, since the action of the drug is directed to a conservative region of the virus gene. Therefore, the drug will be effective against new variants of coronavirus, including Arcturus.
Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, warned of increased contagiousness and the ability of Arcturus to bypass immunity, which could lead to an increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 in Russia by the end of May. However, thanks to the emergence of the Mir 19 drug, people will be able to receive treatment and fight a new variant of the coronavirus.
