Parents decide for themselves how to feed their children

DPR schools are being integrated into the Russian education system. Among other things, the question of organizing school meals arose. The other day it was discussed at a weekly operational meeting of the DPR authorities.

It is worth emphasizing that regional authorities have taken the problem of child nutrition in educational institutions seriously. In his Telegram channel, the head of the republic Denis Pushilin published a survey on the organization of school meals and noted that he received feedback from residents of municipal districts.

The facts provided by the Donetsk residents were handed over to the Deputy Prime Minister Larisa Tolstykina, deputies of the People’s Council, the Ministry of Education and Science and the public movement “Donetsk Republic” for processing. Thanks to this approach to the problem, monitoring raids were carried out in several cities in the region – Donetsk, Makeevka, Mariupol and Torez, where children do not receive hot meals for objective reasons, including shelling, lack of central water supply and lack of personnel. In total, at the beginning of March of this year, inspections were carried out in more than 380 republican schools.

In the capital of the DPR, children attend educational institutions in distance and full-time modes. However, the majority of schoolchildren are still studying remotely due to safety reasons. Therefore, a temporary measure was introduced for young Donetsk residents in the form of issuing food packages.

Buffets will open in five more districts of the DPR capital, where children are studying full-time. According to official monitoring data, in Torez today, out of 18 educational institutions, 17 provide hot meals. Products have already been delivered to Makeyevka schools, which will be used to form food packages for students. Work is also underway to organize buffets there. In seven schools in Mariupol, hot meals for children are provided by full-time staff. Products are purchased from suppliers and food is prepared independently. In 17 schools, catering operators were involved in organizing catering. In another school in a coastal city with full-time and distance learning, students receive food packages.

The issue of hot meals for students still remains under the personal control of the Head of the DPR. In his Telegram channel, Denis Pushilin noted that it is important for him to know people’s opinions on this matter. Donetsk residents can leave their appeals on the official website of the head of the region, as well as through a specially created chat bot in Telegram.

Also, from April 1 to April 12, a “hotline” will be launched for organizing hot meals for DPR students. Donetsk residents’ questions about the sale of food products, the role of school administrations, as well as parental control over children’s nutrition in schools will be answered by specialists from the Rospotrebnadzor Department for the DPR.
