The government approved a resolution on the creation of the Nizhny Novgorod Volga Region national park named after V. A. Lebedev in the Nizhny Novgorod region. It has the status of a specially protected natural area of federal significance.
How reported government press service, the park with a total area of more than 65 thousand hectares will be located on the territory of Sharangsky, Lyskovsky, Voskresensky, Kstovsky and Sosnovsky municipal districts, as well as the urban districts of Vorotynsky, Perevozsky, Bor and Arzamas.
The press service noted that the creation of the park contributes to the development of eco-tourism and the preservation of natural complexes and archaeological monuments. The park will be created as part of the biodiversity conservation program, which is part of the Ecology national project.
The national project was launched in 2019 and should operate until the end of 2024. The government is discussing the extension of the Ecology national project until 2030, said Head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov. According to him, the creation of a separate national project to clean up rivers and improve the health of water bodies is also being considered.
