The Election Commission of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) has created an additional precinct election commission for voting in the Russian presidential elections in Adveyevka. The chairman of the election commission, Vladimir Vysotsky, announced this at a briefing.
“In order to create conditions for the residents of Avdeevka to exercise active voting rights, a temporary election commission was created,” Mr. Vysotsky said in a video recording of the briefing published in Telegram-channel of the Republican Election Commission. According to him, the majority of city residents vote using a Ukrainian passport. They also vote using Russian and DPR passports.
The republic introduced early voting from February 25 at polling stations close to the line of military contact. On March 10, full-scale voting began in the DPR, which will last until March 14. On the main election days – March 15, 16 and 17 – voting will be held in local areas and in premises allocated for voting.
February 17, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported Russian President Vladimir Putin about the capture of Avdeevka. According to the minister, the city was being completely cleared of Ukrainian military personnel hiding in the Avdeevka coking plant. The capture of the city made it possible to move the front line away from Donetsk.
