The doctor told how to avoid stomach cancer

Today, gastric cancer has become one of the most common malignant neoplasms. Unfortunately, the symptoms of the disease in most cases appear already in its advanced stages. However, the good news is that the development of this type of cancer is not so difficult to avoid. This was announced during an exclusive live broadcast at the MK press center by the head of the endoscopy department of Clinical Hospital No. 2 of the First Moscow State Medical University. I. M. According to the specialist, the onset of gastric cancer is preceded by several conditions – atrophy and dysplasia of the gastric mucosa, which develop against the background of chronic gastritis. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to protect yourself from chronic gastritis: this is the most common disease of the upper part of the gastric tract on earth. “This is a chronic progressive disease associated with a violation of tissue trophism, which is the path to atrophy (in a simple way – baldness of the stomach). Atrophy is most often triggered by the bacterium Helicobacter. This is the most studied bacterium on earth, and today there is an absolutely direct connection between Helicobacter pylori and gastritis. The bacterium lives in the gastric mucosa, it can be infected by airborne droplets or household contact. And it can be cured. It causes gastritis, then atrophy, and then dysplasia (replacement of one tissue by another), which leads to pathology. Severe dysplasia is almost equal to early cancer,” said Pavel Pavlov. Therefore, to prevent stomach cancer, it is enough to cure Helicobacter and slow down chronic gastritis.

According to the specialist, stomach cancer today occurs in those who have not been explained this and who have not been examined. But the situation in the world is changing: in recent years, the diagnosis of stomach cancer has become less and less common in the world.
