Dark chocolate contains many vitamins and microelements, but its regular consumption increases the risk of developing atherosclerosis. Alexander Umnov, a teacher at the Faculty of Medicine of the State University of Education, spoke about this in a conversation with “Izvestia”.
According to the expert, chocolate contains various beneficial elements such as iron, phosphorus, manganese, zinc and polyphenols, which help improve blood circulation, wound healing, and the growth of nails, hair and bones. However, excess consumption of sugar and fat in chocolate can increase the likelihood of developing severe diseases such as atherosclerosis, diabetes and obesity. In particular, candies with chocolate are considered especially dangerous, Umnov noted.
According to the doctor’s recommendations, a relatively safe daily dose is 40 grams of dark chocolate and 20 grams of milk chocolate.
