In an interview with Sputnik radio, nutritionist Elena Solomatina warned of possible negative consequences for the brain due to frequent consumption of fried potatoes. She emphasized that the high glycemic index makes fried potatoes capable of provoking various pathological processes in the body, such as damage to the walls of blood vessels.
According to the doctor, unlike boiled potatoes, fried ones have a high glycemic index, which can lead to frequent inflammation and increased blood glucose levels. These processes, in turn, can lead to the formation of cholesterol plaques on the walls of blood vessels, which impedes blood circulation and impairs the supply of necessary substances to the brain.
“The brain begins to lack oxygen and nutrients, which causes problems. The brain begins to break down, neurons die,” Solomatina explained.
