A key representative of the green robot, the Google Pixel family of smartphones has reached 40 million units sold since its inception. IDC researchers shared this data with the 9to5google resource. Statistics were turned to in connection with the recent launch of the Pixel 8 series.
And the numbers show that sales are increasing over time. Over the entire seven-year history of the line, a quarter of shipments occurred last year. In general, over the past few years, growth rates have been in double digits, noted IDC. In other words, the brand continues to develop and gains popularity among users.
But for now, these optimistic indicators have little effect on the overall status of Google Pixel. It remains a niche device. By comparison, Apple ships over 200 million iPhones every year. And this bar is steadily rising. So if the choice of a smartphone is based, among other things, on the principle of uniqueness, then Pixel is one of the obvious options. And among Android devices, it is the first to receive platform updates.
According to Statista Consumer Insight surveys conducted among citizens aged 18 to 64 years old with a number of respondents ranging from almost 1 thousand to 10 thousand in each study country, Canadians use Pixel models most often. They account for 5.3%. Next come the USA, Japan, India, Great Britain, Germany, France and Spain. In the latter, the prevalence of Google smartphones drops to 1.5%.
Last year, it was North America and Japan that actively improved Pixel device shipment statistics. The island state has generally become the largest sales market. Moreover, in this region, thoroughbred Android is noticeably taking the market away from Apple electronics. And in North America, Google was the only smartphone brand whose shipments did not decline year-on-year.
