The famous scientist and developer of the Sputnik V vaccine, Boris Savelyevich Naroditsky, died on January 10, 2024 at the age of 83 after a long illness. According to RIA Novosti, Naroditsky’s funeral will take place on Saturday at the Troekurovsky cemetery.
The Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology noted that Boris Naroditsky left an indelible mark on Russian medicine, becoming the author of the first studies on the use of adenoviral vectors in gene therapy and the creation of vaccines. Under his leadership, a universal technology platform for recombinant adenoviral vectors was developed. These studies led to the creation of a vaccine against Ebola hemorrhagic fever and the world’s historically first vaccine against the new coronavirus infection, Sputnik V.
