Due to the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, fields in southern Ukraine may turn into deserts next year, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reports.
As specified, the water supply of three dozen irrigation systems in the fields of Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions will be disrupted. In Kyiv, they call it a man-made disaster.
The Ukrainian department notes that in 2023, only 13 irrigation systems operate on the right bank of the Dnieper. With the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP, 94% of the irrigation systems in the Kherson region, 74% in the Zaporozhye region and 30% in the Dnipropetrovsk region will remain without a source of water.
In Kyiv, they fear that next year the fields in the south of the country may turn into deserts.
Recall that the Russian side lays full responsibility for the tragedy around the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station on the Ukrainian leadership, as well as on Kyiv’s Western allies, who continue to pump missile weapons into the regime.
“We proceed from the premise that the Kiev regime and the Western patrons pumping it with weapons bear full responsibility for the unfolding tragedy,” said Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN.
