The dentist said about the dangers of hard toothbrushes

Orthopedic dentist, head physician of the dental clinic Ilya Sklyarov recalled that a toothbrush can bring not only benefits, but also harm. At the same time, he called the most harmful in an interview with “Gazeta.Ru” products with hard, natural, sparse or multi-level bristles.

The most frustrating thing about natural bristle brushes is their hygienic durability. Such a brush, as the expert notes, “collects bacteria much more actively,” and cleaning it is very difficult. In addition, “natural” brushes cannot be compared with modern ones in terms of technical parameters: the bristles fall out and fray very quickly.

With regard to modern brushes, discretion is also necessary. The shape and size, as a minimum, should correspond to the mouth. “The bristles should not be sparse and hard – this can damage the gums and even tooth enamel,” Sklyarov said. You should also forget about the advice of marketers about bristles of different heights, because “only even and thick bristles are able to clean all surfaces of the teeth with high quality.”
