The Progress MS-21 cargo ship undocked from the International Space Station (ISS). Russian cosmonauts turned it around and once again photographed and videotaped the damage. The ship was previously isolated from the ISS after depressurization due to a malfunction in the thermal control system.
Progress set sail from the Poisk module at 5:26 Moscow time. It is scheduled that at 07:03 its engines will be turned on for braking for deorbiting. Because of this, the ship will enter the atmosphere and collapse. The fall of unburned elements is expected at 7:45 am in the non-navigable area of the South Pacific Ocean.
Progress MS-21 worked on the ISS for 3.5 months. It was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on October 26, 2022 by a Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle. The ship delivered more than 2.5 tons of cargo.
Depressurization happened on the Progress MS-21 on February 11 – the day of the docking of another ship – the Progress MS-22. The incident occurred shortly after the contour of the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft was damaged.
