The damaged Progress MS-21 space truck was manually undocked from the ISS. This was reported on the website of Roscosmos.
After separation from the International Space Station, cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev and Dmitry Petelin turned the spacecraft around to take photographs and film the damage to the surface of the spacecraft’s instrumentation compartment.
On 07.03 (MSK), the ship’s engines are scheduled to be turned on, waiting for it to be deorbited. At 07.45, the unburned parts of the Progress MS-21 will fall on a non-navigable section of the Pacific Ocean.
The Progress MS-21 spacecraft was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on October 26, 2022. On February 11, a coolant leak was discovered due to damage to the outer skin of the space “truck”. This led to the depressurization of the ship. As a result, Progress was first isolated from the ISS, and later it was decided to undock and deorbit it.
