In Russia, almost 100 million people use the Internet every day, which is a hundred times more than in 1998. About this told Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko in his congratulations to Russians on Internet Day.
“In 2023, the daily Internet audience in our country will be almost 100 million people. Russia ranks first in Europe in terms of the number of users of the World Wide Web, we have one of the most affordable Internet in the world,” the government press service quotes him as saying.
By the end of next year, the Deputy Prime Minister noted, 90% of Russian households will have broadband Internet access; for this, work is underway to build the appropriate infrastructure in settlements in remote and hard-to-reach areas. Now almost 25,000 villages and villages with a population of 100 to 500 people already have access to the network.
According to Chernyshenko, the contribution of Runet to the Russian economy at the end of last year increased by 29% and reached 12.2 trillion rubles.
In mid-January, Rambler&Co analysts found that 39% of Russians spend on average more than five hours on the Internet every day, with 15% of them spending from 5 to 6 hours, 24% spending more than 7 hours. At the same time, almost every third (28%) spends 3-4 hours on the Internet, 24% – 1-2 hours, and every eleventh (9%) – less than an hour. The Internet is mainly needed for reading news – 43% of respondents think so.
