The city court of Gorno-Altaisk returned to the prosecutor’s office the criminal case of the founder and columnist of the local newspaper “Listok” Sergei Mikhailov. He is accused of disseminating false information about the army (part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code).

The decision was made at the request of the defense at a preliminary hearing in the case, which was held behind closed doors. As lawyer Galina Batyrova told Kommersant, the court found violations in the preparation of the indictment.

Criminal case received for consideration by the Gorno-Altaisk City Court on March 22. The materials indicate that in March and April 2022, Sergei Mikhailov published several materials on the Telegram channel, in the printed version of Listok and on the publication’s website, which, under the guise of reliable, contained deliberately false information about the goals, objectives and procedure for conducting a special operation on Ukraine.

“In the course of the preliminary investigation, a large amount of investigative and other procedural actions were carried out, including complex psychological-linguistic, author’s and other forensic examinations. Thanks to the competent work of the investigators, irrefutable evidence has been obtained that fully confirms the involvement of the person involved in the commission of the criminal act incriminated to him, ”the press release of the ICR department for the Altai Republic says.

Sergei Mikhailov was detained on April 13, 2022 in Lyubertsy near Moscow, where he lived at that time, and then was escorted to Gorno-Altaisk. The editorial office of the weekly “Listok” was searched. After it placed under arrest. He considers the accusations unfounded.
