The court ordered footballer Promes to pay compensation to his cousin

The Amsterdam Court of Appeal ordered Dutch football player Quincy Promes, who plays for Spartak Moscow, to pay compensation to his cousin, reports The Algemeen Dagblad. In 2020, an athlete attacked him with a knife.

The amount of compensation that Quincy Promes must pay to the victim will be determined at the next hearing. In June 2023, an Amsterdam court sentenced the football player in absentia for assault to 18 months in prison. He was also ordered to pay compensation in the amount of €7 thousand.

Quincy Promes filed an appeal, but it was not granted. The athlete is currently outside the Netherlands. In January, the athlete arrived in the UAE. Dutch law enforcement authorities requested a warrant from the country for his extradition, but they were refused because the conviction had not yet entered into force.

On February 14, a court in Amsterdam will rule on the drug smuggling case against Quincy Promes. Prosecutor’s office believesthat the football player acted as the head of the network and, under his leadership, more than a ton of narcotic substances were imported into the Netherlands. In this case he faces up to nine years in prison.

32-year-old Quincy Promes has been playing for Spartak since 2021, having previously played for the Moscow club from 2014 to 2018. In total, he played 235 matches for Spartak, in which he scored 114 goals.
