A man who installed a video surveillance camera in one of the women’s toilets of St. Petersburg State University got off with a relatively mild punishment. The justice of the peace fined the pervert and ordered to pay moral compensation to the three victims.
As it became known to MK, the Petersburger worked as a manager of the international relations department of the passport and visa department of St. Petersburg State University – he helped foreign students with paperwork.
According to the joint press service of the courts of St. Petersburg, the voyeur installed a micro-camera on the battery in the part of the restroom where the toilet was located and disguised it with a medical mask. This, however, did not help the attacker: one of the victims found the camera. Soon, a lover of spying on colleagues was detained, he was charged with illegally collecting information about private life. The punishment for this offense can be quite severe, in particular, a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles or imprisonment for up to two years. The pervert immediately confessed to his deed and explained that he made the recordings for personal use.
The next day after the arrest, the Vasileostrovskiy District Court of St. Petersburg granted the investigation’s request to impose a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. Namely, from 19:30 to 06:00 he was forbidden to leave his home, the rest of the time – to be in any institutions related to St Petersburg University, to communicate with witnesses, victims and university staff. A ban was also imposed on the use of means of communication, including the Internet, as well as attendance at mass events and participation in them.
The other day, the pervert’s case was considered by a justice of the peace. As a result, a fine of 30 thousand rubles was imposed on him, and the judge ordered him to pay compensation for moral damage – 20 thousand rubles for one victim and 10 thousand rubles for two others.
