House number 16 was erected according to an individual project in 1927, and the masters of the Moscow City Overhaul Fund restored its historical appearance, making it comfortable for living. The roof was replaced in the building, the facade was updated and the entrances were repaired. The work was carried out as part of the capital’s overhaul program. Specialists at work used exclusively advanced domestic materials.
“Moscow is a city that is rich in architectural masterpieces. House number 16 on Malaya Bronnaya is one of them. Preserving its original beauty is an important task. A thorough survey of the object was carried out, and after that a unique work project was developed, taking into account all the nuances. Then the most suitable materials and technologies are selected. The coloristic solution corresponds to historical data. After the overhaul was completed, the old house received a second life,” said Vladimir Kozhichenkov, Deputy General Director of the FKR Moscow.
The façade of the building was restored with great care. The craftsmen recreated the lower parts of the balcony slabs and elements of the architectural decor. In places of loss of keystones and semicircular arches, additional fragmentation was carried out with modern polymer-cement mixtures. IN new plastic windows appeared in common areas. They put the basement of the building in order, arranging a tile covering in a contrasting color.
During the overhaul of the roof, the old roof was dismantled, and the outdated coatings were replaced with modern ones, continuous flooring of the lathing layer. The roof was covered with new railings. The wooden elements of the attic were treated with a fire-retardant composition.
A large amount of work was carried out as part of the overhaul of the interior decoration of the entrances. The walls were plastered and painted with abrasion-resistant paints. The elevators have been repainted. The surfaces of the steps of the flights of stairs were restored, and new porcelain stoneware was laid on the floor.
“Particular attention was paid to the restoration of oak handrails – they were cleared of numerous layers of old paint, damaged areas were removed, the geometry was restored and varnished,” the press service of the Capital Repair Fund of Moscow noted.

It included 4437 houses of the capital with a total area of 34.2 million square meters. In 2023, repairs will begin in 2.3 thousand houses.
