The Tagansky District Court of Moscow imposed an administrative fine of 50,000 rubles on the Telegram messenger for violating Russian legislation on the circulation of personal data.
Magistrate Timur Vakhrameev announced the decision according to which Telegram Messenger Inc. was imposed a fine of 50 thousand rubles. It is noted that the messenger was found guilty of failure to comply with the requirements for the protection of the rights of subjects of personal data (part 5 of Article 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and was held liable for the first time under this rule.
The materials read out in court testify that claims against the service arose due to an employee of one of the federal services contacting Roskomnadzor in connection with the placement of her personal data in one of the telegram channels, in particular, that she previously had Ukrainian citizenship. Representatives of Telegram did not take part in the court session.
