The court fined Oxxxymiron 70 thousand rubles. for calls for separatism in the track “Oida”

The Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg fined the rapper Oxxxymiron (Miron Fedorov, recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) for 70 thousand rubles. for calling for separatism under Part 2 of Art. 20.3.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. The meeting took place without the participation of the artist. The rapper was fined for calling for actions aimed at destroying the territorial integrity of Russia, which the prosecutor’s office saw in the artist’s video for the song “Oida”. The video was filmed in St. Petersburg and posted on the artist’s page on VKontakte on September 16, 2022.

Which lines contain calls for the division of Russia, the court did not say. However, according to conclusion experts from St. Petersburg State University, the track contains phrases calling for “certain actions, as a result of which the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation may be violated.” The experts refer to the line about “rebuilding the house” (of the country), as well as to the statement in the form of a “slogan”, which, in their opinion, “demonstrates a positive public attitude towards the separation of part of the country.” The song features the phrase “Ingria will be free.”

For checking the creativity of the performer at the end of October took “Safe Internet League”, headed by Ekaterina Mizulina. She sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to check the track “Oida” for signs of extremism.

In early December, the Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg also registered an administrative lawsuit from the prosecutor of the Admiralteysky district against the rapper, Yandex, the social network VKontakte and the streaming service Sound, demanding that the video for the song Oida be banned from distribution. A preliminary court hearing to ban the composition took place on January 9. During the consideration of the case, it became known that streaming services cannot be defendants. The next preliminary hearing in this case will take place on 7 February.
