Meshchansky Court of Moscow admitted blogger Ilya Varlamov was guilty of violating the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent (Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) and fined him 50 thousand rubles. The reason for initiating an administrative violation case was the lack of foreign agent markings in Mr. Varlamov’s publications on the Internet.

Ilya Varlamov is a Russian opposition blogger. In 2022, he opposed the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine and left Russia. In March 2023, the Ministry of Justice contributed him to the register of foreign agents. In June, Mr. Varlamov tried to challenge the status of a foreign agent, but the court rejected him.

In August the trial fined Ilya Varlamov for lack of inogant labeling. Then the fine amounted to 30 thousand rubles. The reason for drawing up the administrative protocol was the materials in Mr. Varlamov’s Telegram channel without indicating his status as a foreign agent.
