The court commuted the sentence of Zarema Musaeva, the wife of former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya Saydi Yangulbaev

The court commuted the sentence of Zarema Musaeva, the wife of former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya Saidi Yangulbaev, reports RBC.

In the summer of 2023, the mother of Abubakar and Ibragim Yangulbaev was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison on charges of fraud and violence against a police officer. Later, her sentence was reduced by six months and she was transferred from a general regime colony to a settlement colony.

Now the court, as reported by the press service of the Fifth Cassation Court of Pyatigorsk, sentenced Musaeva to 4 years and 9 months in prison.

The woman’s family believes that the case is related to the human rights activities of her sons.

The convicted woman’s lawyer, Alexander Savin, told RBC that, taking into account the commuted sentence, Musaeva actually had “about a year left to serve.”
