The Kirovsky District Court of Ufa arrested six detainees after the riots near the Baymaksky District Court building on January 15. They were found guilty of participating in an unauthorized rally. On January 15, the Baymaksky District Court was supposed to announce the verdict of local activist Fail Alchinov (listed as terrorists and extremists) in the case of inciting hatred or enmity, humiliation of human dignity (Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). That day, according to local media estimates, several thousand people gathered at the courthouse demanding the release of Alchinov and the resignation of the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov.

The court hearing in the case of Fail Alchinov was postponed to January 17. The court sentenced the activist to four years in a general regime penal colony. After the verdict was announced started clashes between police and Alchinov’s supporters who came to a second protest at the court building. Police used batons and tear gas to disperse the protesters. The Investigative Committee opened criminal cases of mass riots (Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
