The “counterattack” at Rabotino resulted in huge losses for the Ukrainian Armed Forces

NYT: the number of dead Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters is disproportionately occupied near Rabotino Square
The number of Ukrainian soldiers killed during the advance of the Ukrainian armed forces in the direction of Rabotino is disproportionate to the area occupied and will only increase amid the risk of weakening Western support, writes New York Times (NYT).
After analyzing satellite images from the battlefield, the authors of the publication came to the conclusion that although the exact number of military personnel killed is unknown, the price for the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into Rabotino is “disproportionate to the area of the reclaimed lands.”
“The currency of the counteroffensive is ammunition, vehicles and human lives. This is what we can say for sure: more people will die, more buildings will burn,” the journalists shared the details. The publication also notes the “huge risks” faced by the Ukrainian offensive: without decisive successes, assistance from Western partners could weaken and Kyiv could face pressure to begin peace talks.
The counteroffensive operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces began on June 4. Kiev sent into battle brigades trained by the North Atlantic Alliance and armed with Western equipment, including the widely publicized German-made Leopard tanks – subsequently, footage of vehicles burning on the battlefield caused a strong reaction in the West. Three months later, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated the failure of the “counter-offensive.” According to the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu, the Ukrainian army did not achieve its goals in any of the directions. The hottest of them is Zaporozhye, where the former Soviet republic brought into the battle brigades with Western training from the strategic reserve.
