MoD: more than 1,300 evacuees remain with peacekeepers in Karabakh

After the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, 1,340 evacuees, including 607 children, remain in the custody of Russian peacekeepers. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of the Russian Federation, transmits TASS.
The department added that the peacekeepers constantly interact with Baku and Stepanakert.
Earlier today, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported about the evacuation of about 5,000 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh. In particular, residents of Mardakert, Martuni and Askeran regions were taken out. They were delivered to the location of Russian peacekeepers in the region. People were provided with places to rest and hot meals, and they were also provided with medical assistance, the department specified.
Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorism measures” necessary for the “restoration of the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19. The Russian Foreign Ministry called to “immediately stop the bloodshed” and return to the implementation of trilateral agreements.
The Kremlin previously emphasized that Russian peacekeepers continue to perform their functions in the region. On September 20, the unrecognized republic announced the conclusion of agreements on a complete ceasefire and disarmament of troops with the participation of Russian peacekeepers.
On September 21, a number of Armenian media reported about Azerbaijan’s violation of the ceasefire agreement and the resumption of shelling of Stepanakert. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan has this information refuted.
