The ban on the entry of cars into the European Union does not apply to Russians who are transiting through the territory of Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region. This was reported “Gazeta.Ru” at the Lithuanian Customs Administration.
They stated that until further clarification from the EU Commission, during Kaliningrad transit they will not apply sanctions to cars with Russian registration if the requirements of simplified transit are met.
To travel to and from the Kaliningrad region, Russian citizens must obtain a simplified transit document (STD), equivalent to a Schengen visa. This document gives motorists the right to stay in Lithuania for 24 hours during each transit trip.
