The Council of the Duma will consider on Wednesday a protocol instruction on holding consultations on the possible return of the death penalty for a number of crimes. This was reported “Interfax” the author of the order, deputy Konstantin Zatulin.

According to Zatulin, the first vice-speaker of the parliament, Alexander Zhukov, suggested discussing this issue at the Duma Council. “In order not to start a stormy long discussion at the meeting,” Zatulin explained to the agency.

It is, as the parliamentarian explained, about the proposal to hold consultations on the possible return of the death penalty. Namely, in relation to those who are guilty of terrorist acts, crimes against children and a number of other crimes.

“At least for some of us, this is an ambiguous issue,” Zatulin said. “And there is already a historical position that has sprouted roots.” The deputy and the author of the instruction called this position on the discussion of the return of the death penalty “an anachronism.”
