The Consumer Portal helps Muscovites protect their rights

March 15 is World Consumer Rights Day. The Moscow Department of Information Technologies reminded citizens that the Moscow Consumer Portal can help them defend their rights to receive quality goods and services.

The consumer portal went live last year. It was created in order for Muscovites to receive information in a convenient and accessible form about their consumer rights in various areas of trade and services, and also to be able to independently draw up a competent claim or statement of claim.

So, one of the most demanded services on portal became “Electronic Assistant”. This service has about 100 templates for self-compilation of a claim or statement of claim.

In addition, the portal has published about 200 articles and video memos on specific situations and options for their solution. The materials are grouped into thematic areas, including “Retail”, “Remote trade”, “Tourist services”, “Public services”, “Public catering services”, “Housing and communal services” and others. So, for example, in the “Tourist Services” subsection, you can find out what to do if the tour operator from which you purchased the ticket has ceased operations; is it possible to change the room if it has already been paid for, or what to do if you are not satisfied with the quality of cleaning in the room. And the “Paid Medical Services” section contains information on what to look for when concluding an agreement with a commercial clinic and what medicines can be returned after payment for the purchase.

Also, residents of the capital can get advice from specialists on issues related to consumer protection by calling the round-the-clock hotline of the Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the city of Moscow: 8 (495) 539-36-96.
