Russia withdraws from the European scientific program “Eureka” after 30 years

The Russian government announced Russia’s withdrawal from the European scientific and technical program “Evrika”. Information about this is contained in the published resolution of the Cabinet.
The document says that the government recommends accepting the proposal of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, agreed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice, to withdraw from this program. The Ministry of Industry and Trade was instructed to notify the leadership of the Secretariat of the Evrika Association of the decision.
The joint program of European states in the field of research and development “Eureka” was launched in 1985. The areas of work of the program are IT and telecom, energy, medicine and biotechnology, transport technologies, robotics, laser technology, and ecology. Currently includes 41 members. RF joined the program in 1993. According to data in open sources, as of 2009, 98 organizations represented Russia in the program.
