Dmitry Utkin, according to one version, was born on June 11, 1970 in the city of Asbest, in the Sverdlovsk region, in the family of a geologist. According to other information, his hometown was Kirovograd, Ukrainian SSR, or the village of Smolino near Kirovograd. After leaving school, he entered the military school in Leningrad. The legendary PMC commander died on August 23, 2023 in the Tver region due to the crash of a plane flying from Moscow to St. Petersburg, along with the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin and 5 other passengers and 3 crew members who were on board. Utkin was 53 years old.
