The Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Hockey Federation (RFH) suspended the head coach of the junior team, Alexander Titov, from coaching for six months. According to message press service of the Russian Hockey Federation, the committee’s decision is related to the incident that occurred after the final match of the Future Cup in Minsk: Russian hockey players lost to the youth team of Belarus, and then pointedly refused to take prizes from the tournament organizers.
According to the decision of the disciplinary committee, in addition to the head coach, three national team players were suspended for three matches – goalkeeper Pyotr Andreyanov and forwards Egor Surin and Vadim Dudorov. In addition, the committee established a probationary period of six months for these hockey players. “In the event of a repeated violation within this period, the listed players will be subject to more severe sanctions,” says the FHR material.
On February 10, the Russian junior team lost to the youth team of Belarus with a score of 5:6 in overtime in the final match of the Future Cup. During the match, Russian hockey players lost 0:3, but then caught up with their opponents. During the award ceremony, the hockey players refused to take individual awards and placed them on the ice immediately after presentation.
