Rostov basketball club “BARS-RGEU” extended the contract with the head coach. The new agreement with Alexander Sosnin runs until the end of the 2023/24 season.
The 36-year-old mentor of the Rostovites headed the club under very tragic circumstances. In February of this year, during the Siberian tour of BARS-RGEU, a misfortune occurred. On February 20, in Magnitogorsk, in the midst of a match with a local club, Rostovites coach Alexander Zryadchikov had a stroke. The team returned home without a mentor. Despite all the efforts of doctors, the 76-year-old coach died two weeks later.
Rostovites under the leadership of Zryadchikov showed an excellent game and were the leaders of the Major League.
Alexander Sosnin was invited to the position of head coach, who at that time did not have a contract, and until May 2021 he headed the Stavropol Dynamo club. The new mentor did a great job. Rostovites retained their leadership and won the right to play in the Super League next season.
It is logical that Sosnin received an offer to extend the contract for another year.
By the way, the coach knows Rostov well. Over the years, he played for Lokomotiv-Rostov, Ataman. In 2010, he became the champion of the Major League with Ataman.
He ended his playing career early – at the age of 24. Since then, he has been in coaching almost all the time.
