The Moscow Traffic Organization Center (TsODC) installed 83 complexes of photo-video recording of violations in areas where more than three accidents with injuries or deaths occurred during 2022, reported in the Moscow Department of Transport.
Cameras appeared at 78 addresses in every district of Moscow, said Moscow Deputy Mayor Maxim Liksutov. Most of them record speeding, failure to allow pedestrians to pass, failure to comply with intersection rules and other dangerous violations.
“As a rule, after installing cameras, accidents stop happening in 90% of areas. We are committed to zero road deaths. We install all photo and video recording systems only in agreement with the capital’s State Traffic Inspectorate,” said Mr. Liksutov.
At the end of 2022, we recall, Maxim Liksutov in interview with Kommersant stated that 3.8 thousand complexes were installed in the city. “As soon as we see that the camera has completed its task, we do not buy a new one, but move it to a new location or a new dedicated lane,” said the official. “We believe that today in Moscow there are enough cameras to monitor traffic safety throughout the city.” As the data center explained to Kommersant, the total fleet of cameras remains the same (3.8 thousand) and has not increased: cameras that had previously worked in other places where the number of accidents had decreased were installed in emergency locations.
Earlier, Kommersant reported about the plans of the data center to assess the technical condition and market value of 800 old cameras that had long been dismantled from the road network.
