The chief doctor of Kommunarka Protsenko listed the manifestations of post-Covid – Kommersant

Denis Protsenko, the head physician of the Moscow Kommunarka hospital, named skin rashes, a sense of smell that did not recover from the disease, and preserved fatigue and memory loss among the manifestations of post-Covid.

“We have a small number of patients with COVID, but there is no such severe course as in a pandemic. If we talk about this topic, which everyone is tired of, now post-COVID is of great interest to the medical community,” said Mr. Protsenko RBC.

According to the head physician, Russian data correlate with foreign ones: after the pandemic, the number of people with diabetes mellitus increased, “the numbers of arterial hypertension became younger.” Mr. Protsenko believes that COVID-19 dealt a “very big blow” to the cardiovascular system of those who had been ill.

The checklist of the anesthesiologist-resuscitator included the question of whether the patient had a coronavirus, Mr. Protsenko said. According to him, with a positive answer, you need to “be more careful about pressure and biochemical analyzes for blood sugar or glycated hemoglobin.”

The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic in March 2020. This status was cancelled in May 2023. During this time, about 20 million people died from coronavirus, according to WHO estimates. Of these, 6.9 million died directly from COVID-19, the rest from complications of existing diseases caused by the virus.
