Pamfilova: The Central Election Commission proposed holding a DEG in the presidential elections in 29 regions
Remote electronic voting (DEG), along with traditional voting, can be organized in 29 regions of Russia. The proposal was announced on December 20 by the head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova. According to her, this voting format will take place for the first time in one of the regions.
“Potentially, about 38 million voters can participate in the DEG,” said the head of the CEC.
According to Ella Pamfilova, initially 28 subjects who had previously carried out such a procedure volunteered to conduct remote voting in the presidential elections. Later, an application was received from the Vologda region, where DEG had not previously been used.
“We recently had a super-scale training, during which we covered a huge area of all regions… Vologda voters showed very high interest in this type of voting… We decided to give the go-ahead,” Pamfilova said.
Earlier it became known that the Central Election Commission registered a group of voters created to support the self-nomination of candidate Vladimir Putin for the Russian presidential elections. Let us remind you that the current head of state submitted the documents necessary for registration as a candidate, on Monday, December 18th.
