The Central Election Commission has registered an initiative group to nominate Vladimir Putin as a candidate for the presidential elections, which will be held March 15–17, 2024. The CEC also registered proxies of the current president, allowed Mr. Putin to open an election account and begin election campaigning. Two relevant resolutions of the election commission were adopted at a meeting today, December 20.
Vladimir Putin on his intention to run for a fifth presidential term announced December 8th. On December 16, his decision was unanimous supported initiative group of voters. The current president of Russia intends to participate in the elections as a self-nominated candidate. On December 18 he filed documents for participation in the elections to the Central Election Commission.
According to Kommersant, the speaker of the parliament of the Donetsk People’s Republic Artem Zhoga, actor Vladimir Mashkov and the head physician of one of the Moscow hospitals Maryana Lysenko could become co-chairs of his campaign headquarters for the 2024 presidential elections. All three are part of the initiative group to nominate Mr. Putin for president.
