How to become a candidate
To register, a self-nominated candidate must, within 20 days from the date of calling the elections, submit to the CEC a petition for registration of an initiative group in his support of at least 500 people; the CEC makes a decision on its registration within five days. The nomination of presidential candidates from political parties is formalized at their congresses. The minutes of the congress must be submitted to the Central Election Commission within 25 days from the date of calling the elections.
Presidential candidates must submit documents required for registration, including voter signatures in their support. Candidates from parliamentary parties are exempt from collecting votes.
To register for elections, representatives from other parties must collect and submit to the CEC at least 100,000 voter signatures by January 31, with no more than 2,500 signatures per subject. Self-nominated candidates must collect at least 300,000 voter signatures (no more than 7,500 per subject).
The decision to register all CEC candidates must be made before February 10 inclusive.
