The Central Bank celebrated the anniversary of the launch of the spacecraft with the first female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova
The Bank of Russia announced the issuance of a silver coin with a face value of 3 rubles – “60th anniversary of the first space flight of a female cosmonaut.” Although it is quite clear that the new coin will appear on the eve of April 12 – Cosmonautics Day – the financial department insists that this is an anniversary release dedicated to the launch date of the Vostok-6 spacecraft, piloted by Valentina Tereshkova, who is currently a member of the State Duma. The first ever flight of a female astronaut began on June 16, 1963.
The denomination of 3 rubles, despite the fact that the new coin is traditionally declared the official means of payment, is a very conditional thing: the mintage of the coin – 3 thousand pieces – guarantees that it will never see a wallet and take an honorable place in numismatic collections, “leaving” for auctions for amounts several orders of magnitude higher.
