Rosstat recorded a sharp increase in the incidence of hepatitis and syphilis at the beginning of the year

In January, Russia experienced a sharp surge in infectious diseases, including HIV, hepatitis and syphilis, informs Medvestnik, citing data from Rosstat and reports from Rospotrebnadzor.
The incidence of newly diagnosed tuberculosis increased by 10%, HIV – by 20%, gonococcal infection – by 19% by January 2022.
Half of the identified cases of HIV infection occurred in 13 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. We are talking about Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Krasnodar and Perm regions, St. Petersburg, Kemerovo, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Rostov, Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions.
