Auto expert Strelbitsky explained why the engine may knock after an oil change

Auto expert Vadim Strelbitsky said that after changing the oil, car owners sometimes hear the engine knocking and spoke about the reasons why such a knock may occur.

The engine sometimes knocks if too little or too much oil has been added. Also, during an oil change, the oil pump filter could have become clogged or installed incorrectly, or an unsuitable pump may have been installed, said the specialist referred to “Russian newspaper“.

The engine and its filters may take some time for the oil to reach the final lubrication point, but if this occurs, the knocking noise should subside within a few minutes.

Other possible causes are problems with the engine’s lubrication system, such as low oil pressure due to a faulty oil pump, as well as poor oil quality.

The expert recommended turning off the engine and contacting service.
