The case of the theft of 200 million rubles through Pushkin Cards has been brought to court

The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation sent to court for consideration on the merits a criminal case regarding the theft of more than 200 million rubles through Pushkin Cards. This was announced on Tuesday, February 13, in the press service of the department.
The defendants in the case are Viktor Yakubov, Emil Gurbanov and Ilya Safonov. The investigation found that through the PRO.Kultura.RF service, which accepts applications from companies applicants for inclusion in the Pushkin Card program, they organized performances by artists and offered card holders to buy tickets without the purpose of visiting them. At the same time, many times more tickets were sold than the venue could accommodate.
The performance was staged with the participation of extras posing as spectators, and the criminals took money from the budget through “Pushkin Cards”.
The damage caused to the state budget by these actions is estimated at 200 million rubles.
Earlier, Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Pavel Krupnik proposed extend the Pushkin Card to pensionerssince older people have an irresistible desire for cultural enrichment.
Previously, it was proposed, on the contrary, to reduce the age of recipients of the Pushkin Card and issue it not from the age of 14, but from the age of sevenso that schoolchildren do not have to wait long.
