The caretaker of the ritual service of the Stupino urban district of the Moscow region received a criminal record for… landscaping a cemetery. The trick was that, as part of clearing the churchyard of old and dangerous trees, the man cut down the wrong thing, for which he was eventually prosecuted.

As MK learned, the unpleasant incident happened in November last year. The caretaker visited the Sokolova Pustyn cemetery, where he found a large amount of dead wood and dead wood. Many trees leaned dangerously over the graves, threatening to damage the monuments if they fell. Without thinking twice, the worker took a chainsaw and cut down several of the most fragile, in his opinion, plantings. “Under the knife” went aspen, alder, oak, two birches and two lindens. Moreover, for example, the linden trees “suffered” for the company: the birch tree fell on them when it fell, and the caretaker decided that it would be easier to cut down all the trees. Subsequently, the tractor driver removed the dead wood from the cemetery and distributed firewood to the families of area residents mobilized for the Northern Military District.

As a result, the caretaker paid for his zeal. It turned out that although the ritual service had a felling permit, these particular trees could not be felled. Some of them even grew outside the cemetery, and moreover, they were not rotten. The worker explained that he did not know about this, since the cemetery is not surrounded by a fence everywhere, and it is not always clear where the cemetery ends and where the forest begins. He supposedly had never even heard of logging tickets.

The Stupino court found the caretaker guilty of illegally cutting down green spaces and sentenced him to a fine of 10 thousand rubles.
