A 96-year-old bottle of Macallan whiskey has appeared at Sotheby’s auction and has become the subject of much attention, reports the Associated Press. This rare vintage whiskey is expected to fetch £1.2 million (about $1.4 million).
Preliminary bidding for this lot will take place on November 1st.
In 2019, a bottle of Macallan from 1926 sold at Sotheby’s for a record price of £1.5 million, becoming the most expensive bottle of wine or spirit.
Macallan 1926 bottles are the oldest and rarest examples of Macallan whiskey. This drink was aged for more than 60 years in fortified wine barrels, which gives it a special value and unique taste.
