The captain of the Ekaterinburg KHL club Avtomobilist Sergey Shirokov was infuriated by the behavior of the spectators at the arena in Astana. Before the match between Avtomobilist and the local Barys, many ignored the Russian anthem and remained seated. According to RIA Novosti, Shirokov called such a demarche unacceptable.
“From childhood they are taught that. when the national anthem plays, you need to get up. Many people were sitting today when the Russian anthem was played. I think this is unacceptable,” Shirokov said in an interview with KHL TV.
