FC “Khimik” from Dzerzhinsk continues to compete in the Russian Championship among teams of the Second League “B”. The black-greens occupy a place in the first half of the standings and are vying for promotion to the Silver division of the Second League A at the end of the summer-autumn part of the season. At the moment, “Khimik” ranks 2nd in the standings, behind the backup team “Zenith” from St. Petersburg only in terms of additional indicators.
In the next match, the team from Dzerzhinsk will play against opponents representing Velikiye Luki. The players of the team “Luki-Energia” occupy 15th place in the standings of the Second League “B”, having scored only 9 points in 10 matches. The team from Velikiye Luki has only 2 wins in 10 matches and 3 draws. Last season, FC “Luki-Energia” played in the “strongest” subgroup of Group No. 2, where they fought for promotion to the First League.
FC Khimik captain Artem Shirokov spoke about the upcoming opponent.
“Our closest rival, Luki-Energia, is playing a cup match with the FNL team this week. On the one hand, the guys from Velikiye Luki will have game tone, on the other hand, they will get a lot of workload playing at home and will probably want to give their best. But they have a long trip to Dzerzhinsk ahead of them. Most likely they will go by bus. For us, all this should be a plus,” Artem said.
