Khabarovsk “Amur” in Nizhnekamsk lost to “Neftekhimik” in shootouts

Khabarovsk “Amur” continues its black, or still gray streak – after three defeats at home, the team went on their second trip this season, which began from Nizhnekamsk. And I repeat once again that the “wolves” are no less important rivals for the “tigers” than the Primorye “sailors”. Apparently this is karma. Moreover, it doesn’t matter where the “pack” from Nizhnekamsk is now, the battle for points always turns out to be very fierce.

Before leaving, Andrei Martemyanov tried to cheer up the squad sending two players to the Major Leagues – to gain fighting fervor until, having fulfilled his promise to put the laziest ones in the rejection draft. However, persistent rumors began to circulate among fans that Jan Drozg could become a candidate for refusenik. But so far there has been no movement from the club in this direction. The Slovenian is still in the squad.

The hosts started this match more actively than the guests. In the first period, the Wolves shot more and more accurately, and Amur scored two penalties. At the 11th minute, Sergei Lapin sat on the bench for blocking, and at the eighteenth minute, Ivan Mishchenko for tripping him. It was the second two minutes of the minority that cost Amur the puck against Dmitry Lozebnikov. Neftekhimik needed only 7 seconds of numerical advantage to open the scoring. Nikita Setdikov scored.

The second period didn’t start too well for the Tigers either. In the 24th minute, Mikhail Sidorov fired powerfully from the blue line, and Nail Yakupov, like a footballer, adjusted the puck and it found an unprotected corner. Two is zero, this is already serious, especially with the Nizhnekamsk residents. But the Khabarovsk team were able to pull themselves together and, after the hosts were sent off twice, they still converted the majority.

At the 30th minute, “Amur” entered the enemy zone, our new compatriot Cameron Lee, who recently received Russian citizenship, was especially active. He gave the puck to Yegor Korshkov, who saw Dmitry Shevchenko on the penny and forwarded it to number 95, and he skillfully put the projectile into the goal. After the goal was scored, the guests retained their advantage and after 31 seconds, the same Jan Drozg converted it with an accurate shot from the throw-in circle.

The hosts tried to win back the entire third period of the game, but even despite the penalties that the “tigers” continued to rack up, nothing came of them. Regular time ended in a draw – 2:2. The game went into overtime, which also did not reveal a winner. But in the shootout, the Neftekhimik players were more accurate. The result of the match is 3:2 in favor of the Nizhnekamsk team. “Amur” concedes, but takes one point.

“In the first period, of course, Neftekhimik put pressure on us; the team always plays very powerfully at home. During the break we made small adjustments, I believe that the second period was already behind us. And in the third, the game was already going on before the goal was scored. There were unnecessary deletions, the team was short-handed and didn’t have enough for overtime and shootouts. There was no more freshness. Well, we took the point. I think that’s a small plus to what can be taken away from this game. As for the fact that “Amur” rested more than “Neftekhimik”, I will say from my experience that it is better to play than to rest. This is a double-edged sword. You may be fresh, but the game tone is lost and while you are looking for it… in the first period we entered the game, there was no game condition. In the second period we more or less got going and played much better. We made a very long transition from defense to attack, I really didn’t like it. Somehow there was a delay. Nizhnekamsk looked stronger than us in this element,” noted after the game Andrey Martemyanov, head coach of HC Amur.

For his part, the head coach of Neftekhimik noted that the teams deservedly received one point each.

“Amur” continues its away series. The next game will take place in Mytishchi, where the Chinese Kunlun RS is currently based. The match will take place next Friday, September 29.
