In the capital of Pomorye, youth beach football competitions were held for the first time. Regional tournament “Cup of Pomorye” was held among boys born in 2010-2011. Four teams entered the site: Arkhangelsk “Cobra”, “Locomotive-1” and “Locomotive-2”, as well as Severodvinsk “Stroitel”.
As noted by the Ministry of Sports of the Arkhangelsk Region, the best players in the tournament were the Stroitel players, who outplayed all their rivals. The Lokomotiv-1 team took the second place, the Cobra players took the third place, the Lokomotiv-2 football players closed the standings.
The beach soccer tournament among young athletes was held in Arkhangelsk for the first time, but the organizers have big plans for holding interregional and all-Russian competitions.
Beach sports are increasingly developing in the Arkhangelsk region. Since the beginning of 2023, in order to develop beach football in the region, four free beach football sports and recreation groups have been operating on the basis of the Usov Sports School. Football teams have also been established. Twice in 2022, the reigning beach soccer world champion, striker and captain of Lokomotiv Moscow Boris Nikonorov visited the Arkhangelsk region. He held master classes and took part in several tournaments, highly appreciating the level of training of regional athletes.
