The capital company collected over 40 million bottles and cans for recycling

Over 40 million aluminum cans and plastic bottles over 4 years were collected and sent for recycling by a Moscow manufacturer and operator of recycling equipment. Once recycled, the raw materials can be used to create clothing, furniture, building materials and much more. On average, one recycling machine can hold up to 500 aluminum cans and plastic bottles with a volume of 0.25 to 2 liters. The operation of the machines is ensured by AI technologies. “In 2019, the metropolitan company Ecoplatform began producing fandomats for collecting plastic and aluminum containers. Artificial intelligence, computer vision, weight and motion sensors have been introduced into the operation of the technological device,” said Vladislav Ovchinsky, Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy. He added that today about 400 fandomates are installed throughout Russia, 77 of them in Moscow. Over 4 years, with their help, over 40 million bottles and cans were collected. This is approximately 170 tons of aluminum and about a thousand tons of plastic, which, after recycling, find a second life.

In addition, the company launched the “Not Just a Thing!” project, which helps to dispose of unwanted clothes in an environmentally friendly way. There are 315 collection boxes located in Moscow and the region. During their work, they collected more than 70 tons of textiles.
